GENUIN SOCIAL IMPACT PROJECT REPORT

 special olympics

 youth activasion project

- Briefly summarize your project and describe how it generated acts of inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities:
We were able to find many volunteers for holding a local competition game.  This led to successfully achieving the purpose of the project which was to create interaction between people with and without intellectual disabilities.

At the volunteer orientation meeting, they were able to have better understanding of each other through music.
At the competition game, we created opportunities to directly interact with the intellectually handicapped and they were able to have better understanding of each other through unified sports.

- Please reference the goals you indicated on your application form - were you able to attain them?  Why or why not?
First half of the project:  Unachieved because the goal of the project was not shared among the members and no one was supporting the team.
Second half of the project:  Partially achieved.  There were changes in the youth members and the second team considered lessons learned.  In addition, the project became functional not only by giving the youth members responsibility but also by becoming a part of the local execution committee.

- Briefly describe the results of your project - how it will make lasting impact in your community?
Things began to work out after the team which became aware of the critical situation held meetings continuously and started from doing what they can do.
In addition to the initial goal to build a post school graduation community for people of the same generation, we were able to create a new goal which is to support athletes who suffered the Kumamoto earthquake.
The result was that we obtained even more supporters.  After the completion of the project in August, the team will continue to work on achieving the goal.  Currently, they are engaging in gathering donations of goods for the Kumamoto Support Charity Bazaar and fundraising for supporting athletes of SON Kumamoto who suffered the Kumamoto earthquake.
